Call 911, I think my head is about to explode

First, to my friend Water Pig, I have not been blogging as much because my schedule is not cooperating. Between studying for my final (on the Global Capital Market and Foreign Exchange rates), working on the Peruvian presentation, the outsourcing of my team at work and those addicting reality shows (The Apprentice and American Idol); who has time to blog?

I know, I know, I should get my priorites straight. But between Simon Cowell and Donald Trump who can possibly concentrate on Eurocurrency and/or Global Equity Markets??

Do you remember the Married with Children episode when Bud was trying to tutor Kelly? They figured out that her brain would only hold so much information. And that everytime she learned something new, she forgot something she had previously stored in her brain. Well that is how I'm feeling. I am afraid if someone tries to tell me anything today that I will forget everything!!

My head hurts!

Have bags will travel

With the temperature in DFW hovering around 80 degrees, I'm beginning to get the spring fever travel bug. Between my mom and my friends, there seems to be a lot of traveling going on. Yet none of the plans include me. :-(

Two weeks ago my mother and a friend of hers flew from Seattle to NYC just to go see The Producers on Broadway. Apparently Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane have returned for a limited engagement. While there, they also caught the matinee of Thoroughly Modern Millie. The rest of the time was spent shopping and eating. I didn't get any postcards or souvenirs.

This week, mother and another friend are floating down the Mississippi river on the Mississippi Queen Steamboat. They started in Memphis and are sailing to New Orleans, with stops along the way. The other night I was awoken by the phone. It was mom. She was so excited. She acted like a kid on Christmas morn just dying to tell me all about the trip thus far. I've since gotten two postcards.

Next month, my friends are flying to Vegas. Now mind you, we have made an annual trek to Vegas either in October or November. This year, they are going in April!! Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to go this time of year. My friend (we'll call her Jackie-O , due to the personality she takes on when consuming a certain whiskey) keeps telling me I need to go...who knows, I might win!! I've been going for 4-5 years now and haven't won yet!

So to all of you with big travel plans, have a safe trip. To my friends, I hope you win. To my mother, continue to spend the inheritance like there is no tomorrow! As for me, I'll be tailgating that Amish buggy in Lancaster, PA in July. Oh the smell of horse manure as it bakes on the pavement. ::sigh:: There's always next year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Today is a day I should be searching for 4 leaf shamrocks, kissing a blarney stone, and consuming that wonderful invention green beer. Well I do have shamrocks planted in my back yard...and I'm full of blarney...but for some reason I'm not drinking green beer. Far from it, I'm drinking water.

My friend Water Pig, thought it would be fun to make a water pig out of me. So she bought me a 1.89 liter bottle and instructed me to drink one full container every day. Yesterday was my first day and I drank about 3/4 of one container. Mind you, I have a 48 mile commute. Well needless to say, I RAN into the house when I got home. Made my appologies to the dog (who has been waiting for 10 hours to go outside) and ran into the bathroom.

Last night I filled up my water jug, put it in the freezer and pulled it out this morning. I will have ice cold water all day long! This water jug not only will assist in wait loss by making me consume water but it acts as a 3 pound weight for doing arm curls.

The only real drawback I can see is that I slosh when I walk. Bet I wouldn't slosh with green beer.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

She's a maniac...

This morning as I rummaged through my closet looking for something to wear I thought to myself, I need to go shopping. Now I've never been a fashion trendsetter. I'm most comfortable in a pair of sweats and bedroom slippers. But occasionally I will update my closet with something that I think looks up-to-date and that doesn't make me look "frumpy".

Today I look "frumpy". I'm back in my fat jeans and a loose pull over top. The one thing I will say about my fat jeans is that they are more comfortable than my regular jeans.

So what is the current fashion? Well according to the W.S.J., the 1980's styles are back in vogue this year. They say leg warmers, neon colors, off-the-shoulder tops, and really tight, tapered leg jeans.

Looks like another frumpy summer for moi!

Quiero jubilarse en la Costa Rica

I'm taking a global management course as part of my MBA. The group project consists of "the team" researching different countries in a particular region and then starting a business in that country. The region my team has is South America.

Originally, the team consisted of 3 of us looking at the countries of Argentina, Brazil, and Peru (I was doing Peru). The week after we had begun our research, the professor brought a new member into our group. He volunteered to do research on Costa Rica. Now I knew that Costa Rica was not considered South America, but I thought well we'll pick Brazil or Peru anyway.

The rest of the group (which consists of 3 men) voted to pick Costa Rica. I brought up the point that Costa Rica was technically not in the region of South America but considered Central America. After much discussion with the professor, it was agreed that we could pick Costa Rica.

Today, 2 1/2 weeks before the final paper and presentation is due, the guy who wanted Costa Rica sent us an email stating he was dropping the class!! UGGHHHHH. Now we need to go finish researching Costa Rica!!

Remind me again why I'm wanting the MBA??? Is it to learn about Costa Rica so that I may lay on the beach and drink margaritas when I retire? I wonder, are there cabana boys in Costa Rica?

¿Oye usted hombre atractiva, que tal frotando algún bronceador en mi espalda después de traerme un margarita?

    Where the boys are

::doing my best Connie Francis imitation:: Remember when you looked forward to Spring Break? That one week vacation from school. You could sleep late. Then you could just goof-off with your friends.

I never got to go anywhere on spring break because we were always in Florida anyway. My step-father was in baseball so we were always at spring-training during spring break. I would just hang out with my friend Melodie. We'd walk to the 5&10 and get a coke and fries at the soda fountain. Then we would go to the Holiday Inn and swim in their pool (after waiting the obligatory 30 minutes of course). Walking home usually consisted of stopping at the bakery and splitting a creme horn. We'd sometimes stop during our walk to feed the cows oranges. I'm sure the farmers loved that.

This year, the classes I'm taking are not giving us a spring break. Work expects me to use my vacation time for spring break. Even if I did have a spring break I would spend it working around my house. How I long to go ...where the boys are...if for nothing else than to feed the cows oranges, one last time.

A rose by any other name

Where do nicknames come from? Do they always have to have some symbolic or representative meaning? I mean, I know where Earth Dog came from...I also know where another nickname of mine came from (if I told you I would have to kill you...thanks mom and dad!).

Today I was reading the W.S.J. about the censoring of Howard Stern. The article went on to discuss another D.J.'s nickname. Ready for this? "Bubba the Love Sponge". AAACCKKKKK!

Now twice in the last month I've heard the word "SPONGE" used to describe something other than a sponge. First there were SpongeMonkeys (a nickname for tarsiers or those disgusting creatures on Quizno commercials) and now a "Love Sponge" (God only knows what that means). Where do people come up with these? Then again, I probably don't want to know...

    What's your sign?

So I'm having somewhat of a frantic morning. The commute this morning was horrible (will save the road rage cases for another day). I thought I would go online and read my horoscope. Now I'm not in the habit of doing this but I thought maybe it would shed some light on what's in store for me the remainder of the day.

I went to MSNBC.com and pulled up their horoscope section. Mind you, today is March 4th. Here's what came up:

    Today's Date: Mar. 2

    Scorpio 10/24 - 11/21
Make your dreams a valuable tool for insight, dear Scorpio. In days past, great rulers and kings believed so strongly in the insight their dreams carried that they employed interpreters. Whether you think dreams are mystical insights, or the result of random firings of your brain's release of thought and emotion, there is much to be gained. Recurring dreams hold much significance, as they can point to something that needs to be taken care of. Consider exploring this area.

OK, what the ???? I don't usually remember my dreams. Wouldn't you know it...this morning I did remember my dream. I dreamed that I tried a new shampoo and that it turned the highlights in my hair pink. And I don't mean soft and cuddly pink, I mean SHOCKING pink. I did get a lot of compliments on my hair though.

I guess my horoscope from 2 days ago is telling me that I need to go do something with my hair. I think I'll stick with red.

    When I rule the world!!

I have so many thoughts about things I would change or do if I ruled the world. Most of them are inventions but some would be laws. For example, on my 48 mile trip to work this morning, I thought what if cars had high powered magnets in the bumpers. The reverse polarity would keep cars behind you at a distance and keep you from tailgating cars in front of you. The way I see it, there would be no more rear-ended collisions.

Not only would this reduce your insurance rates, but the number of people out on the roads collecting beer and soda cans would be eliminated. If you drive near a can, it would attach itself to your car. Once you switched off the engine, the cans would fall to the ground. You could then recycle them and the world would be a little less cluttered.

Now I know there are some flaws to this idea. Two lane highways would be very dangerous if you did not have some sort of barrier. Maybe we could put some sort of high-tech gizmo in the middle of the road that blocks the magnetic field...this would led to manufacturing and construction jobs. hmmmmm I'll have to think about this some more...

Let's see...with one idea I have improved the economy, reduced accidents, cleaned the environment, reduced insurance premiums...VOTE FOR ME!!! After all, it is Super Tuesday!
