Using a SteriPEN to stir in the Sweet N Low

So in preparation for the Africa trip, it seems that you must go through a battery of immunizations. After a series of 3 hepatitis shots, a yellow fever shot, pills you must take to prevent typhus and malaria, I think I'm just about ready to go.

One of the suggestions we have received is "don't drink the water, don't eat any raw vegetable (remember that I'm a vegetarian), and don't eat fruit that you haven't peeled yourself". Now about the water, this includes water that you might ingest while brushing your teeth and washing your face. So I found something called the "Steri-pen" see http://www.hydro-photon.com/ . Its premise is that you simply put it into water and the water becomes safe to drink!! When sending an email to my mother if she thought it was worth the investment, here's what she had to say...

Okay. I'll pay half. How much is it? $150? Your brother said we should get one but he's got more money than anyone so I dismissed his suggestion.
I've got tons of batteries and a battery charger that I'm taking along as well as electric converters. You order it and be sure to send in the registration/warranty card. I'll send you half of the total. Let me know. BM (BM is her Swahili name initials ...or what she thinks is her name. Translated to mean Bwana Mama or Mr. Mom, she's been calling herself Big Chief Mama) PS I'm very good at "discreet" from my practice of putting sweet 'n low in wine!! :))

Remind me not to suggest we take a trip to France. She'll get cursed at by the waiters!!

Until next time..this is Binti Earthdog (That's Swahili for Miss)
