Look what the wind blew in

After much moaning about how I needed a new fence, my brother offered to fly down from Washington state and put up a new one for me. Well mom and dad got wind of that and they decided that they would come down to help. I received the following emails from mom. They are currently somewhere in New Mexico....(for your information, Luke is the 105 lb. Black lab)

***** first email
Dear Ones, Well, the last two times we went to play bridge, the game was closed because all the "Snowbirds" had gone home. So we decided to pull out of here!. Meanwhile, Dad caught a cold and being the generous soul he is, he gave it to me. On top of that, Luke ate something he should
not have and he has explosive diarrhea! The good news is that he gives us enough notice to stop the motorhome and get him OUT! Nevertheless, when we left this morning, we were in good spirits. After lunch the wind picked up and by 3:00, we couldn't drive in it. A gust caught our
awning and partially opened it while we were driving 60 mph, turning it into a sailboat, essentially. So I climbed up the rear ladder and duct taped the awning poles to help stabilize them and we drove very slowly to the nearest RV park. When the wind dies down, we will open the awning and reclose it and fasten it very securely. The wind now, at 6:00 is still severe but it is supposed to die down tonight. The altitude, along with his cold, has rendered Dad nearly useless. She said sweetly. Do not worry. We err on the side of caution. We will have a better report soon. Keep in touch. Love, Mom

Subject: Monday night - things get worse
Dear Ones, The wind has not let up. Dad has developed a HIGH fever. We don't know how high because he broke the thermometer - not because he was so hot but because he dropped it and it broke. Dad took two improve, I took two sudafed and we all went to bed at 9:00. We were up coughing, blowing, and sneezing off and on all night. Tomorrow is another day. Mom

Dear Ones, Dad's fever broke during the night. He went through 3 nightshirts! He is still affected by the altitude and his cold but he is not as congested. He was able to help me with the awning adventure.. While I was up on the roof, he handled the ground details. We THINK it is stabilized now. It is still breezy but some better. We are going to try again. Watch your evening news to see if, in New Mexico, a strong gust of wind blew an RV with a sail attached, off the road. Lastly, Luke is normal again although there is very little left inside to expel. There is no e-mail service in Lordsburg, NM so I'll send these when I have the chance. Mom

Well at least it's better than their Montana trip. There they drug the VW beetle behind the RV for 1500 miles with the steering wheel locked (didn't know you had to have the locking mechanism removed from the steering column when pulling a car)!

God love 'um! My brother arrives a week later than the folks. It will be interesting. I'll keep you posted.
